Burning Belly Fat

The most common requests about losing and burning fat have to do with belly fat. Commercials and targeted advertisements promise to burn belly fat within days.  We want it to be true and many fall for those scams.  As much as we’d all like to burn belly fat, there just isn’t a way to isolate the fat in our tummies. You can build muscle there but to burn fat; you have to burn it all over.

With low fat diet plans and exercise work outs so widely available, it is obvious that many folks are obsessed with losing weight.  Fad diets come and go and still that tummy refuses to burn away.  Sustainable fat burning that includes belly fat will only happen through proper nutrition, exercise and a reduction in the overall calories consumed.

Drink Water

This is a no brainer when you really think about it but to actually do it, is another matter.  Skip the sodas, fruit juices and lattes.  Just drink water.  Water washes us on the outside and the inside.  Many of us are dehydrated and don’t even realize it.  Drinking enough water is essential for your body to do all that it needs to, from sending and receiving messages to the brain to helping out in the digestive track.  For those who prefer a bit of flavor in their water, add a squeeze of lemon or lime.

Eat often

Now it may sound strange to recommend that you eat more often but for those trying to lose weight, eating smaller meals more often throughout the day will help you more than you think.  In order to burn fat, your body needs fuel to burn like any good fire and it is the food you eat that provides that fuel.  By eating larger meals less often, the body will store the unused portion of that fuel as fat and that is the opposite of what you want to happen.  Your metabolism rate will stay at a higher rate burning that fat all day long when you eat smaller meals more often.


Exercise doesn’t have to mean an hour long work out at the gym.  It means that you need to find an activity that you enjoy enough to do regularly, that will get your heart pumping.  A good walk will do that.  Once this becomes habit, you’ll never want to give it up.  The more weight you lose, the more motivated you might be to increase your physical activity so go for it.  Don’t allow it to become a chore but do try to get that walk in every day. Your waistline and your health will thank you.  Exercise is also a great way to relieve stress.  Reducing stress in our lives is also a necessity as weight gain is a known result of high levels of daily stress.  Techniques like meditation, yoga or simple breathing exercises can help reduce your levels of stress.

Just knowing how to lose weight won’t get you anywhere.  You have to follow through on the commitments you make in order to lose that belly fat.  There are a multitude of natural products that can aid you in any low fat diet plan you intend to follow.  All of the vitamins and nutrients your body needs are found in the foods you should be eating if you are sticking to the guidelines of the food pyramid but natural supplements in low doses may help you.  Green teas and other natural products known for reducing or burning fats should also be considered.
